Microneedling Facial

Microneedling is a natural, minimally-invasive anti-aging skincare treatment for reducing acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines. It uses thin, microscopic needles to activate production of collagen and elastin, the two compounds primarily responsible for beautiful, youthful looking skin. Microneedling patients enjoy the resulting fullness and volume that is achieved without any incisions, anesthesia or downtime.
Microneedling Benefits

Microneedling stimulates collagen production. Collagen is a protein that assists with keeping your skin resilient, younger looking and strong.

As you age, the production of this protein dwindles which contributes to skin aging and causes lines and wrinkles.

We use the innovative MD Pen device to create microtears in the surface layer of your skin. These microtears trigger the self-healing in your skin which in turn increase the production of collagen.

By increasing the production of collagen, micro needling restores your skins strength and elasticity, which helps smooth out wrinkles and fine lines and improves firmness to help promote a younger, healthier looking skin.

These microtears are not painful as we use an extra strength topical anesthetic to numb your skin before treatment.

Along with skin smoothing, microneedling improves your skin tone. Sun damage such as hyperpigmented skin may greatly improve with this treatment.

Acne can leave scars long after the acne has gone and can create terrible effects on your self-esteem.

By stimulating the skin’s repair process, microneedling can fill in recessed acne scars and improve the texture of your skin.

It can also help you get rid of stretch marks on different parts of your body.

There is no down time after a microneedling treatment. You may experience some redness and splotchy skin.

Once the anesthetic wears off your skin may feel flushed or hot, and is often described as the same feeling as a mild sunburn.

FAQ

Have Questions about Microneedling? We’ve Got You Covered

Which skin conditions may be treated with microneedling?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that is safe for all skin types.  There are several conditions can be effectively treated with microneedling:

  • Acne Scars
  • Fine lines and Moderate Wrinkles
  • Skin Laxity
  • Pore Size
  • Texture, Tone, Color
  • Traumatic Scars
  • Photo Aging and Scar Damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Deeper Penetration of Topical Serums
How is microneedling so effective in treating skin conditions?

Your skin cells naturally produce collagen, a substance that gives skin its elastic qualities and helps to prevent sagging. Collagen also helps widened pores pull back into place and makes skin appear more supple. The microneedling process provides just enough damage to skin cells that they respond by turning on their regenerative abilities.

In turn, new, undamaged skin is created and cells begin to produce collagen at a faster rate. As your skin heals from the microinjections, the extra collagen creates elasticity and plump, youthful skin. In turn, you cut years from your appearance.

As your cells work to heal themselves from the needle pricks during the treatment, they also heal other damage like spots, acne, and scars. The rejuvenated skin is healthier and looks stronger than it did before. It is also free of spots, scars, and clogged pores that cause breakouts.

After your skin is regenerated and collagen production begins, something else happens after your treatment. Your skin also becomes more open to the absorption of facial products. This means that your moisturizer will work more efficiently, and your skin cells will be able to retain moisture for a longer period. Other skin care serums or creams will also be absorbed more easily into your skin, leaving you looking and feeling your best.

How do I get started with treatment?

The first step in your microneedling treatment is to visit us for an evaluation. We will talk to you about your problem areas and what kind of results you are hoping to see. We will also conduct an examination of your facial skin to determine what has caused these issues and the best way to approach treatment. We will assess how much treatment we believe you will need, and we will give you a plan for moving forward.

We will also ask you questions about medications you are taking and your medical history to determine if you are a good candidate for this treatment. We will ask about your lifestyle, such as whether you are a smoker and if you drink alcohol or take drugs. We will use this information to decide what type of treatment will be appropriate. We will also answer any questions you have about your eligibility or about the procedure itself.

Before Treatment

About a week before your treatment, you may need to stop using supplements such as vitamin E, fish oil, and ginkgo. You may also need to temporarily stop using medications that cause the blood to thin, such as aspirin. Discontinuing these supplements and medications will reduce the likelihood of bleeding and bruising during the treatment. You may also want to prepare for your appointment by stopping the use of chemical exfoliants for at least three days before your treatment.

After Treatment

After your appointment, you will be able to go back to work, but you may have a few restrictions you need to follow in terms of skincare. For example, you should not wear makeup for at least 24 hours, and you should avoid hot water, steam, and harsh cleansers on the skin. Moisturizing your skin with a gentle cream or lotion is advisable. You should also be sure to wear SPF outside for one to two weeks after your treatment to protect new skin cells.

What will happen during my first treatment session?

The first time you come in for a treatment session you will see one of our aesthetics professionals. We will make sure that your face is clean and free of any bacteria or oil. We will begin by applying a topical anesthetic that will keep you comfortable throughout your appointment. Then we will use a device that rolls across your skin and makes tiny injections with sterilized needles into the areas you want to target.

The purpose of the needle pricks is to stimulate your skin cell’s self-healing response. When the needles puncture your skin, your cells will begin a natural regeneration process. This process takes around 10 to 20 minutes.

What sort of results should I expect after my first treatment?

Most of the time, you will be able to see early results from this treatment very soon after your initial appointment. The collagen produced by this treatment will generally have a noticeable effect on the superficial appearance of your skin within two to four weeks. These results will continue to improve as the subdermal layers of your skin are healed by more collagen and fibroblasts. You should notice a marked improvement in skin quality after 30 days.

What care should I take after microneedling?

After your treatment it is vital to avoid sun exposure. We recommend using sunscreen and your favorite moisturizer cream.

How often should microneedling treatment be performed?

The total number of treatment sessions you will need depends on the extent of the damage to your skin and the results you are hoping to get from the treatment.

Because microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment, it can be done several times a year. The more frequent your treatments are, the better your results ultimately will be. For most people the best frequency for this treatment is once every four to eight weeks, depending on your skin concern and your skin type.

Is microneedling painful?

No, we use an extra strength topical numbing cream. Clients generally do not report any discomfort.

Is there any downtime required following treatment?

Microneedling has minimal downtime. After the procedure your skin will look and feel like it has a sunburn. The serum we send you home with will help with this. Most patients will notice that by the next morning, the sunburn feeling is gone, but there may still be redness that can last a few days.

We suggest no exercise, or anything that will make you sweat, for 24 hours because sweat is irritating to the skin – but otherwise there is no real downtime, it is just up to your comfort level.
