Does insurance cover ketamine treatments?

Ketamine therapy is not covered by insurance in most cases. It is an FDA-approved anesthetic, but other uses are considered “off label”. We can provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance carrier in an effort to be reimbursed.

How can I get started?

Getting started is as simple as making an appointment! We’ll conduct an in-depth consultation to determine the right course of treatment, answer your questions, and establish proper expectations.

How will I feel during the infusion? Will I be asleep?

Most of our patients report feeling a pinch as the needle is inserted, followed by a sensation of cold as the infusion enters the bloodstream. A finger clip will monitor your vitals throughout the infusion.

Is ketamine safe? What are the side effects?

Ketamine is FDA-approved and has been in use since the 1970s. However, as with all medications, some side effects are possible, although they are not all common and not all patients experience them. Some patients report dizziness and nausea, particularly those with a history of this type of reaction to medications. Anti-nausea medication taken before treatment can help. Some patients also report experiencing fatigue after treatment, so we recommend having someone give you a ride home. In some instances, patients have experienced disassociation, although this tends to be a beneficial effect, as it can help patients struggling with anxiety. Most of our patients find the treatment very pleasant and deeply relaxing, providing the opportunity to remove themselves from sensations of pain, as well as anxiety. Note that ketamine infusion does not create a “high” – it empowers you to achieve better outcomes in treating your chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
